Idols SA singer Mthokozisi Musa Ndaba arrested following fight over family house in KwaMashu
South African singer and Idols South Africa star Mthokozisi “Musa” Ndaba has been arrested after an alleged violent family altercation linked to a KwaMashu property dispute.
Mthokozisi “Musa” Ndaba, a former Idols South Africa contestant, was arrested on Sunday following an alleged family dispute in KwaMashu. He is expected to appear at the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court
Former Idols South Africa contestant and South African singer Mthokozisi “Musa” Ndaba has been arrested following an alleged family dispute in KwaMashu, according to his manager.
He was arrested at his KwaMashu home on Sunday (today) and later taken to KwaMashu Police Station. Authorities from the South African Police Service (SAPS) had not yet confirmed his arrest at the time of publication.
The high-profile arrest has sparked widespread attention online after a voice note allegedly sent by Ndaba earlier on Sunday suggested he was about to be taken into police custody.
Manager confirms arrest and family dispute
Ndaba’s manager, Phale Tumelo Jali, confirmed that the singer had been arrested following a family altercation involving his cousin.
According to Jali, the conflict stems from a dispute over a family home in KwaMashu, where Ndaba has been staying.
Jali said the confrontation began a week earlier.
“The incident started on Sunday, 8 March 2026, when Mthokozisi had a fight with his cousin. At the heart of the conflict is the family house in KwaMashu. The cousin does not want Mthokozisi to stay there because he fears that Mthokozisi might eventually take ownership of the house." said Jali.
Allegations of assault during the altercation
Jali alleged that the dispute escalated into a physical confrontation.
“From what I understand, the cousin started the fight and he began hitting Mthokozisi. He repeatedly said he wants to destroy Mthokozisi and to prove that he went to the police station and opened a case against him.” Jali said.
Jali added that Ndaba also laid an assault charge against the cousin, leading to both parties becoming involved in a police investigation.
Both men arrested
The situation escalated on Sunday when both Ndaba and his cousin were taken into custody.
“Both Mthokozisi and his cousin were arrested today, Sunday, 15 March 2026,” Jali confirmed.
The two are expected to appear at the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
It remains unclear what specific criminal charges will be presented in court when the matter is heard.
Wife confirms arrest but has limited information
Ndaba’s wife, Nandipha Sefoloko, confirmed that she had been informed about the arrest but said she did not know the details surrounding the incident.
“I'm aware he's been arrested but I don’t have enough information about what happened. Unfortunately, I’m not with him right now, I last saw him in December last year, so I wouldn’t know the details of what is happening now,” she said.
Idols SA singer in the spotlight
Ndaba rose to national prominence after appearing on Idols South Africa, one of the country’s most widely watched music talent competitions.
His performances on the show helped him build recognition and a loyal fan base within the South African entertainment and music industry.
News of his arrest has therefore generated significant public interest and online discussion, particularly among fans of the show.
Court appearance expected Monday
Ndaba and his cousin are expected to appear at the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where more details about the assault allegations and the circumstances surrounding the arrests are likely to emerge.
This remains a developing breaking news story, and further updates will follow after the court appearance.
